The REAL Consequences of Gay Marriage
Hilarious!!

Seriously...I'm amazed at how many people think that passing Prop. 8 or a similar measure would be the end of civilization as we know it. The other day Bill O'Reilley (sp?) was on The Daily Show, debating with Jon Stewart what type of country America is. O'Reiley maintained that America is a right of center nation, and Stewart argued that instead we were a nation of progress...and suggested the idea that gay marriage is simply the next logical step. O'Reily's response was essentially to say that America was a country of traditions and that those traditions were what shaped us. They got away from the topic after that, or at least if Stewart made any response it was cut for time...and no reply was shown. I don't disagree with O'Reily's idea, which is shocking to me. We ARE in lots of ways a country of great tradition, but also of innovation, progress and change. I have no problem with traditions as far as they go, but sticking to tradition for traditions sake? If that's REALLY the type of country this was, slavery would still exist and women wouldn't be able to vote. Opposing something like gay marriage because it violates "tradition" is possibly the most ridiculous of all arguments, and I hope we as a country are better than that.

You spelt O'Reilly like three different ways lol (idk how to spell it - it's just amusing you didn't pick one but ALL.)
