The Saddest Thing

Ok, so this may sound strange to some...but I swear, one of the saddest thing I see on a daily basis are turtles that have been hit trying to cross the road! Don't ask me why, but I feel worse when I see them then when I see other dead animals. I guess I think that maybe they suffer more because they have shells and probably dont die right away? Not that I'm sure other creatures don't also suffer...and maybe I'm completely wrong, who knows. Anyway though, if you're ever behind me in traffic and I suddenly stop, pull off the road and jump out of my car, it's probably because I've spotted a turtle either in the road, or trying to cross, and I'm going to help them out. Don't laugh! If you were a turtle, you'd want help too! :-)

Huh? What? Where am I?

What? Huh? Where am I? Who are you people? What is this place? A blog? I have a blog? Oooooh yea, I guess I do! I vaguely remember writing something in like February, and then going 100% MIA as my life went 'bat-shit-crazy' as I like to call it. Well guess what, I'm BACK!! And there are going to be some changes around here, let me tell you! I've decided that I'm no longer going to sit down and attempt to write an epic blog entry every single time...cause lets be honest, that hasn't worked so well. Will there still be rants? Yes. Will I still rip the Republican party and the current administration a new one on a regular basis? You betcha! Will I continue to wax philosophical about life and relationships at great length? More so then ever! Will I still obsess about sports and the Panthers? Heck yea!! Will I do it every single blog? Nope.

From here out I'm going to go for a more 'stream of consciousness' approach with more regular entries, containing more daily thoughts and reflections. I'll just let the long posts/rants come as they may. As it happens though, I feel one coming on right now...and of course, it's my favorite topic in the whole wide world, politics!! Yeay!!!

For anyone who hasn't heard, Dick Cheney is now officially his own fourth branch of the U.S. government. Kind of hard to believe isnt it? You'd think that someone else would have pointed this out before now, but no - it takes a upstanding citizen like Dick to make the public aware of his unique position. Either that, or the man is completely full of shit. Any rational person would say that since Cheney is VP, logically he is a member of the executive branch of the government. Well, Dick Cheney isnt about to be stopped by some silly little thing like logic! No sir! According to Dick, since he is also the tie-breaking vote in the Senate, he is also a member of the legislature...and since that is strictly forbidden by the Constitution, he is therefore a member of NEITHER branch, leaving him alone as a new fourth branch! If you're paying attention, this should be terrifying to you.

Now, even more disturbing than Cheney being his own governmental body is how this discovery came about. Cheney's office was recently subpoenaed by CONGRESS (CONGRESS PEOPLE!) regarding documents related to the unwarranted and politically motivated firings of twelve US attorneys during Bush's presidency. (for more about how the Bush administration is a bunch of screw-ups, just google Alberto Gonzolez. Talk about moronic!) Cheney's office flatly refused to comply with the subpoena, using this ridiculous notion of not being a member of the Executive Branch, and therefore outside the jurisdiction of Congress as cover. It's like when you catch a five year-old in a lie! You know they're lying, THEY know they're lying, but when you ask them if they're lying, they will spin you ANY STORY, anything at all, no matter how ridiculous, if they think it might save their butts. This is exactly what Cheney is doing at this point....grasping at straws to try and protect himself as this administration's house of cards comes tumbling down around them. I just hope for the sake of our country Congress doesnt just let this slide. The stage is set here for a final major showdown between good (law) and evil (Dick Cheney)...I know it's been a while, but lets hope good wins!
